Musketeers CIF Academic Champion
Runner -Up
The MHS Baseball tradition of academic excellence continues with the 2015 varsity team taking 2nd place in the 'large school' GPA championship. Eleven players were 4.0 or above and none were below a 3.0. The unweighted (no AP grade bumps) team GPA of 3.61 was bested only by Rancho Cucamonga HS. MHS baseball players buy in to the concept of excellence, on and off the field.

Varsity Ends Season in Quarterfinals

The Musketeers beat a tough La Mirada team with a walk-off single by senior Max Friz at home in the first round. In the second round the Musketeers knocked off Pacific League Champion Burroughs 1-0 on the road behind a pitching gem by Kenny Varnell. Connor Chapman drove in the game winner with a single. After losing a second coin flip the season ended with a nine inning thriller at Chino Hills. Chino Hills starter Bailey Falter held the Musketeers in check until Austin Ready delivered a clutch two out, two strike, 2 RBI single in the bottom of the 7th to send the game into extra innings. The game ended when the Huskies plated a run in the bottom of the ninth. The Musketeers ended a fine season at 22-10. The post season berth was the 7th consecutive year MHS Baseball has earned a playoff appearance.

MHS Alums Ready for Next Level
It's exciting times for many Musketeer alumni as they take their game to the next level. Class of 2015 has Griffin Mazur headed to UC Irvine, Max Friz to Chico State, Kenny Varnell to Fresno State, Ryan Bill to CLU, Chase Tennant to Willamette, and Patrick Valdez at Moorpark College. Class of 2014 has Troy Conway at Willamette, Blake Chiaramonte at CSUN, and Chase Fredrick and Trevor Weston at Moorpark College. From the 2013 Class Sean Barry at University of San Diego, Bradley Fullerton at CLU, Charlie McQuinn at Tufts, and Austin Cole at College of the Canyons. 2012 has Jared Mattera at LaSalle and Jordan Guerrero in the White Sox organization for Winston-Salem in the Class A Advanced Carolina League. Guerrero is the ranked as the White Sox No. 11 prospect. Great to see our homegrown local talent representing Musketeer Baseball!
Musketeers Finish Solid Summer
The Varsity team wrapped up the summer with the first July rain out ever. It was a very productive season against some of the best programs in California ending with a 10-3-4 record. A 4-0 showing in the Buchanon Summer Elite Tourney was a highlight as well as wins vs Alemany, Agoura, Notre Dame, Trabuco Hills, and Dana Hills. Colleges were out in force to see our guys competing against solid competition. There is still lots of work to be done, but the spring 2016 team looks promising!
Annual Alumni Game Set

Mark your calendars on 2/13 for a good time watching the old guys battle the 2016 Musketeers. Batting Practice will start for the Alumni at 11:30 and game time is 1:00. We expect a great turnout of alumni players.
Musketeer Excellence in the Classroom
The Varsity team set a goal of winning the CIF Large School Academic Championship at the start of the 2015-16 school year. The unweighted (no AP grade bump) goal that they set for themselves at semester was 3.75 and they hit the mark exactly. With AP grade bumps included the varsity team GPA was 4.02. Twelve of the eighteen players on the varsity roster were 4.0 or above and none of the players were below a 3.0. We will apply for the Academic competition in mid-February. Whether we win or not we are extremely proud of our STUDENT-athlete's commitment to excellence on and off the field!
